So Zachariah Michael was born today! It is certainly the most amazing and terrifying thing I’ve ever experienced, becoming a Parent. At some point I’ll have to go to Parents’ Evenings…!
He is an amazing gift from God, and when I was thinking about what to write in this most momentous blog post, I was reminded of the best gift ever and the verses in Isaiah 9 that describe it:
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulders,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
Maybe I thought of this because one of our friends referred to Zach’s impending arrival as “the incarnation”… Anyway, every child born is a gift of God that reflects The Gift of Jesus Christ, that God sent his Son to be born, not just among us but to us, as the verse says. It wasn;t just God’s plan for redemption, set with a supporting cast of human beings, but Jesus is a gift to us. His life is our ransom. How incredible is that?
The government will not likely fall upon Zach’s shoulders (but who knows the future of politics?) but with Jesus in charge it’s a Kingdom I’m proud to be a part of.
